Relaxation in every season

Wellness on Fehmarn

Fehmarn offers relaxation and recreation in every season. Even a short break in the form of a wellness weekend on Fehmarn brings body and mind back into harmony. Whether a massage, a walk by the sea or a whole wellness day at the FehMare – Fehmarn is perfect for anyone wanting to take a break from everyday life.

Enjoy the island's fresh air

Walk on a Fehmarn beach

Those arriving on Fehmarn usually begin their holiday with a walk to the sea. Let your gaze wander, breathe in the fresh air – and the recreation has already begun. On an extended walk you can enjoy the peace and listen to the sound of the sea. Especially in the winter months, Fehmarn's beaches are very empty and you can enjoy them without any hustle and bustle. The cold sea air is clean and stimulates the circulation of the airways. Wellness on Fehmarn begins with your first breath on the beach.

It doesn't matter whether you take a long walk or just a short stroll over the dike. If you want to be out and about all day, you can follow the signs on a hike. The island offers a variety of routes that are also suitable for Nordic walking over the dike and along the coast. If you prefer to explore the island a little faster by bike, you can get maps from the tourist information offices in Burgtiefe and Burg.

Wellness at the FehMare

If it gets too cold outside at the Südstrand, you can relax indoors at the FehMare. The FehMare offers various saunas: meditation sauna, infusion sauna, panorama sauna, sanarium and steam bath – guests can choose freely according to taste and temperature preference. The panorama sauna (85°) and the outdoor sauna (90°) are particularly worthwhile, offering a direct view of the Baltic Sea. Our tip: visit the sauna at sunset – pure relaxation, and everyday life fades away all by itself. Between sauna sessions you can listen to the crackling of the fireplace in the relaxation area and put your feet up on comfortable loungers with a view of the sea, or take a stroll on the roof terrace overlooking the Baltic.

The wellness treatments and soothing massages provide even more relaxation at the FehMare. Thalasso treatments as well as classic and relaxation massages release tension, and rasul treatments care for and nourish the skin afterwards. From the FehMare's diverse spa offer you can choose special wellness packages for relaxing.

3 hours in the sauna and wellness world cost €17 for adults and €10 for children. In high season it is open daily from 10 am to 10 pm; in low season Monday to Friday from 1 pm to 6 pm and at weekends from 10 am to 10 pm. Wednesdays from 6 pm is ladies' sauna.

Salzinsel Fehmarn (salt grotto)

If you are looking for a place of rest and relaxation on the island, the salt grotto of Salzinsel Fehmarn is a very special retreat. The air is rich in valuable minerals and trace elements that are absorbed with every breath, such as iodine, calcium, magnesium, potassium and iron. Through breathing and absorption via the skin, these enter the body and are helpful for various ailments. The use of brine, an aqueous solution of salts, has been used in medicine since antiquity and is employed as a supporting healing method all over the world – helpful, among other things, for respiratory diseases, skin conditions and a weakened immune system.

Snuggled up in a warming blanket on a lounger, you can watch the play of colours of the crystals, listen to the soft background music and the splashing of the water. This quickly brings relaxation: breathing becomes deeper and tension begins to release. The salt grotto is a wonderful place to recover and forget everyday stress – the perfect place for wellness on Fehmarn.

Sessions in the salt grotto always start on the hour and last about 45 minutes. No special clothing is required; protective shoes are provided before entering. Warming blankets are ready on the loungers. The salt grotto is open on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Saturdays from 10 am to 1 pm and from 3 pm to 6 pm; the last session starts 1 hour before closing. Admission is €12 for adults, children up to 14 pay €6. To arrange a preferred appointment for a family session, it is recommended to register by phone in advance.
